Shahamath : The Vedic Texts or Bible or The Holy Quran persuades us to pursue in the way of knowledge( be it Science or whatever).
"Seek and ye Shall find"
"Indeed there's wonders for those who think" (from Bible and Quran Respectively)
It's the interpretation of people that has set limitations on certain things. *What if we the students of Science, can interpret the verses from holy texts and provide the people a new enlightenment? *
I have a reason to tell you all these things. Recently when I was attending a Quran Class after morning prayer, when the Khateeb explained meaning of the Arabic word 'Rabb' (literally it means The Sustainer) in detail (its the word that's used in most of the verses of every chapters and in prayers), I was able to somehow able to link its meaning to EVOLUTION, which is claimed to be denied by 'Religions such as Islam and Christianity'.
NB: I don't need to discuss any religion or religious texts here. I hope you guys get my point.
Elvin : Okay no offence Bad idea. The biggest fault of these texts is that they can be interpreted by anyone in anyway to match their views. Propaganda has been often spread in the past using these texts as a means of divine validation of it. Religious texts can be interpreted in any way they want to incorporate the view of the interpreter. Science is factual, and can't be bend to adhere to any religious, socio-political view point. That is one of it's beauties and I would like to see it remain that way. So don't try to mix two things which are build on 2 completely different bases, that being fact based and (which demands) blind faith based.
Me: Poetry has multitudes of meanings and dimensions of interpretations. Literary philosophical works often do. Another example is Picasso's modern art paintings. Lie is the truth artists show.
